About Us

Our Aim and Prayer

Since 1946 the Latimer Fellowship (originally the Evangelical Churchman’s Fellowship) has been working
to advance evangelical thought, through Bible-using ministries in Anglican churches in New Zealand.

Seeking to steward the gospel faith and funds entrusted to the Fellowship,
2025-26 saw us re-configure as a Trust Board with a Trust Deed,
as an incorporated entity and NZ Charity.

Heavenly Father, as you bring all things under Christ,
raise up Kiwi men and women equipped to teach your word,
to declare the Lord Jesus in these islands for generations to come,
in whose name we pray. Amen.

Our History

Our Fellowship began in 1946 as the Evangelical Churchmen’s Fellowship.
Later, we adopted the name of the renowned preaching bishop and martyr of the English reformation, Hugh Latimer (1485-1555).

William Orange (pictured above) could be described as the father of the Anglican evangelical movement in Christchurch. He was among the founders of the Evangelical Churchmen’s Fellowship in 1946.
Though the influence of William Orange’s ministry was felt throughout New Zealand and further afield, especially in the mission fields of the New Zealand Church Missionary Society, his ministry was carried out almost entirely in Christchurch. See more…
The aim of the Fellowship was to encourage evangelical thought amongst Anglicans throughout New Zealand.
This is still the Fellowship’s aim today.
